Il n&rsquo;a pas d&rsquo;odeur \u00e9vidente, n&rsquo;est pas facilement soluble dans l&rsquo;eau et l&rsquo;\u00e9thanol et ne r\u00e9agit pas avec la plupart des acides et des bases \u00e0 temp\u00e9rature ambiante. Il est largement utilis\u00e9 comme additif alimentaire et est \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9 dans les industries pharmaceutiques, chimiques fines et cosm\u00e9tiques.<\/p>\n<p>Le carbonate de magn\u00e9sium l\u00e9ger peut faire r\u00e9agir une solution de carbonate avec une solution de sel de magn\u00e9sium pour g\u00e9n\u00e9rer un pr\u00e9cipit\u00e9 qui peut \u00eatre s\u00e9ch\u00e9 pour obtenir du carbonate de magn\u00e9sium. L&rsquo;eau pure et les solvants organiques le rendent insoluble, mais les solutions combinant des sels acides et d&rsquo;ammonium le rendent soluble. Sa solubilit\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;eau augmente en raison de la pr\u00e9sence de dioxyde de carbone. Apr\u00e8s une combustion \u00e0 haute temp\u00e9rature, il se transforme en cristaux et lorsqu&rsquo;il rencontre le dioxyde de carbone dans l&rsquo;air, il forme un sel complexe de carbonate de magn\u00e9sium.<\/p>\n<p>La poudre compacte blanche ou beige connue sous le nom de carbonate de magn\u00e9sium lourd absorbe rapidement l&rsquo;humidit\u00e9 et le dioxyde de carbone de l&rsquo;air lorsqu&rsquo;elle est m\u00e9lang\u00e9e \u00e0 une solution de chlorure de magn\u00e9sium. Il se g\u00e9lifie et durcit \u00e9galement facilement. Avec une densit\u00e9 apparente de 0,5 gramme par millilitre, le carbonate de magn\u00e9sium lourd est souvent imm\u00e9diatement calcin\u00e9 par du minerai de brucite et de la magn\u00e9site. En g\u00e9n\u00e9ral, le sulfate de magn\u00e9sium, le chlorure de magn\u00e9sium ou le bicarbonate de magn\u00e9sium sont d&rsquo;abord transform\u00e9s en un produit soluble dans l&rsquo;eau, qui est ensuite transform\u00e9 chimiquement en un produit insoluble dans l&rsquo;eau, et enfin calcin\u00e9 pour produire du carbonate de magn\u00e9sium l\u00e9ger. Le produit obtenu a une tr\u00e8s faible masse volumique apparente, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement de 0,2 g\/ml.<\/p>\n<p>De plus, le carbonate de magn\u00e9sium l\u00e9ger est principalement utilis\u00e9 comme mati\u00e8re premi\u00e8re pour la c\u00e9ramique, l&rsquo;\u00e9mail, les briques r\u00e9fractaires et les creusets r\u00e9fractaires, tandis que le carbonate de magn\u00e9sium lourd est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement utilis\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;acier \u00e0 fibres de verre, le ciment et d&rsquo;autres produits. Il peut \u00e9galement \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 comme adh\u00e9sif, agent de polissage, papier et charge de peinture, ou comme activateur et promoteur pour le caoutchouc fluor\u00e9 et le caoutchouc
